Don't Panic, Go Organic - and 3 Reasons Why You Should

Writer: Kurt DaKurt Da

While the world sits inside their homes during a pandemic, it gives many people time to think about ways to improve their overall health and lifestyle. If and when the coronavirus pandemic starts simmering down, people outside are either going to be more cautious or more careless about how they conduct their everyday lives.

For those in the former, they may think about switching to organic products and living healthier. When we're allowed to go outside again they may exercise more and perhaps eat organic and other types of food to boost the immune system. And there are a handful of reasons why you should do the same.

The Irony

It's funny how we got so used to using pesticides and chemicals to grow the food we eat that we called it 'the conventional way', while the organic way of growing food seems to sound more natural as it obeys the natural cycle of growth. It is, however, understandable that the demand for food forces farmers to grow at a faster rate.

But think about the irony of it all for a second. Now that we are a more informed human race, perhaps MSMEs have come up with more innovative ways to have more access to organic food instead of directly getting them from the market. Most farm to table restaurants in Davao City have now resorted to food delivery services and online groceries for your convenience.

The Difference

"Conventionally-grown" food and organically-grown food does have its differences. For one, organic foods leave heavy metals in your playlist while the use of synthetic substances to the conventionally-grown fruits and vegetables leaves traces in our bodies. Additionally, organic food contains more Omega-3 fatty acids, more enduring nutrients, and more less-capable bacteria compared to conventionally-grown food.

The Effect

Finally, organic foods are grown through organic processes. Farmers that grow organic fruits and vegetables are playing the long-game and are improving the environment where their crops are grown whilst providing better food for us. Malagos Garden Resort, for example, is a self-sustaining resort where all their fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and even their livestock are grown organically in their farm. When you’ve finally decided going organic during the pandemic, your body will thank you for it. You can start by clicking here.
