The Green vs. Blue Effect

Writer: Kurt DaKurt Da

Color psychology suggests that different colors can evoke psychological reactions. According to Kendra Cherry, an educational consultant and speaker focused on helping students learn about psychology, “color is often thought to have an impact on moods and emotions. Sometimes these reactions are related to the intensity of a color, while in other cases they are the product of experience and cultural influences.”

The green effect is something that people who like nature can enjoy. It has a strong association with nature and immediately brings to mind lush green grass, trees, and forests. Perhaps because green is heavily associated with nature, it is often described as a refreshing and tranquil color. Researchers have also found that green can improve reading ability. Some students may find that laying a transparent sheet of green paper over reading material increases reading speed and comprehension. People who often enjoy this effect are the ones who want to stay in Davao nature and healing resorts like the Malagos Garden Resort.

The blue effect is for people who love water. Blue is a color often found in nature such as the pale blue of a daytime sky or the rich dark blue of a deep pool of water. It is for this reason perhaps that people often describe the color blue as calm and serene. Notice that when you are near a water element, you immediately feel satiated and calm, this is because blue is favored by so many people, it is often viewed as a non-threatening color that can seem conservative and traditional. Blue calls to mind feelings of calmness or serenity. It is often described as peaceful, tranquil, secure, and orderly.

One important thing to remember is that the feelings evoked by certain colors are not necessarily universal. Cultural differences sometimes play a role in how people perceive color. Whether you want to have a calming effect or an exciting adventure, one wellness and relaxing resort in Davao is the Malagos Garden Resort. Known as one of the best Davao City resorts, marvel in the untouched and serene beauty of nature while enjoying earth, water, and wind elements all in one place.
